The University of Waterloo is widely regarded as being a leader in the field of cooperative education, offering students in many faculties the opportunity to get hands-on work experience while completing their undergraduate and graduate education.
DF/Net Software has been fortunate to have a relationship with this programme since early 2015. We have had the pleasure of working with over 20 students from the Mathematics and Engineering faculties. Students have contributed to all aspects of our software development life cycle. Our team and our software have benefited from their hard work, their enthusiasm and their fresh perspectives. It has been rewarding to see how motivated these students are and how much they are driven to make a difference.
In the Fall 2018 term, we were joined by Brooke and Taaha, first-year undergraduate students. They contributed to the design and implementation of two important new applications in our DFdiscover suite. They were involved in all aspects of requirements specification, design, implementation and testing. They even wrote user documentation - which software developers traditionally do not like to do!
"I had a great time at DF/Net. Because it’s a small company, I felt my input was really valuable, and I was able to have a direct impact on the company and the product I was developing."
Good luck in your continuing education Brooke and Taaha - we will miss you and hope to see you again in the future.
