I have been involved in various aspects of public health for more than 20 years. Over the past 12 years as a data manager at DF/Net Research, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of studies with many smart, interesting, and fun colleagues. One of the great pleasures of working at DF/Net is the people – our friendly and collaborative environment makes the challenge of tackling the complexities of clinical trials all the more enjoyable. In addition to study management, currently I am the supervisor for all clinical coding (MedDRA and WHODrug) activities at DF/Net; this brings me in contact with the full range of studies that we manage at DF/Net.
One of the past clinical trial highlights for me was my multi-year involvement from beginning to end as the data manager for the iPrEx trial (Preexposure Chemoprophylaxis for HIV Prevention in Men Who Have Sex with Men). The iPrEx trial was one of the pivotal studies leading to the FDA approval of Truvada for use in pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a significant step forward in HIV prevention. I’m proud that DF/Net made an important contribution to this endeavor.
I value variety, in addition to being engaged in meaningful work. I appreciate having the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of clinical trial management, in addition to helping with the ongoing development of our new software. The learning process never stops!
