DFUG 2014 was our first user group meeting after the DataFax acquisition. We were motivated to have a DFUG that first year to connect and reconnect with the community. New ownership is always a challenge, but even though we were proud new owners, we were certainly not new to DataFax. We wanted to showcase that DF/Net really “got it” as good stewards of the software.
The last DFUG was held in Florida in March 2012. We knew we couldn’t wait until 2015, so we acted quickly. Given the short timeframe, we chose to have DFUG in Seattle as the second home for DataFax.
The Edgewater linked DFUGs of old with a new Seattle vibe. The cozy, lodge-type feel reminded us of Sun Valley or Lake Louise. It’s an iconic Seattle hotel, built for the 1962 World’s Fair.
The hotel has hosted some of the most famous names in music, including Pearl Jam, The Village People, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and of course, the Beatles. During their stay, the Beatles famously fished from the window of their suite, the photo of which has become legendary.
As we embark on our sixth DFUG and DFUG’s 25th anniversary, we look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new users, and hearing inspiring presentations. See you in Annapolis!
