Employee Spotlight
What is your role at DF/Net?
I’m an Alliance Manager and a Data Manager.
How long have you been with DF/Net?
I started December 2015, so a little over three years now.
What did you do before working at DF/Net?
Before starting at DF/Net, I was completing a PhD in Health Policy and Management.
What do you like most about working at DF/Net?
I like working collaboratively with colleagues on complex studies. I also enjoy collaborating across departments with the business development, data analytics, finance, and leadership.
What is, or has been, your favorite project?
My favorite projects are international HIV prevention clinical trials. Working on these complex studies has exposed me to a dynamic study design and has spurred ideas that were used to enhance the DFDiscover software.
Outside of work, what are your interests, passions, or hobbies?
I enjoy traveling, cross-country skiing, reading, and hiking.
What book are you reading right now?
“Becoming” by Michelle Obama and “Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World--and Why Things Are Better Than You Think” by Anna Rosling Rönnlund, Hans Rosling, and Ola Rosling
Who is your role model?
I have several role models. If I had to pick one, I select my mother who taught me the importance of hard work and staying true to my values. I also looked up to professors and past supervisors. These role models have inspired me to grow in my career, learn from feedback, and lead by example.
Anything you’d like to finish with?
I have a quote written on my whiteboard that emphasizes always being aware of the greater good and larger purpose of our work. “When you are in the weeds, all you can see is the process of doing the work. When you take a step back, you can see the purpose”. When I’m working on day-to-day tasks to build a database or check for data accuracy, I’ll periodically glance at the whiteboard to remind myself that the details are the critical elements of the greater purpose - helping develop lifesaving medications and interventions through quality data management.
